ABOUT RILEY

Thank you for your interest in my practice and visiting my site.  I look forward to talking with you more about your concerns and goals.  I have twenty years of experience working in private practice, educational, residential, and inpatient settings and am a compassionate and dedicated professional, maintaining current Massachusetts licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and certification as a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) by the Art Therapy Credentials Board.  I hold a Master of Arts in Art Therapy degree from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT (2002) and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Psychology and Art History from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT (2000).

My areas of interest include helping clients to better manage feelings of stress and anger, decrease anxiety and depression, develop more effective parenting strategies, improve relationships, increase school success, and develop positive and realistic goals for the future.  I also have experience helping clients manage traumatic stress and other mental health concerns.

I maintain membership with the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association (MaMHCA) and participate in regular continuing education in order to provide clients with well-informed treatment recommendations.  Artistically, I have experience using a variety of mediums and currently create my own artwork through pastel drawings of portraits, still-life, and landscapes.  My knowledge of and experience with fine art techniques influences my art therapy work by allowing me to help clients create a product that best expresses how they are thinking and feeling.
